In 1683, the most dangerous man in the world escaped from England to the Netherlands.
He didn’t look very formidable. He was 51 years old, lanky, and asthmatic. He had, according to one description, a “long face, large nose, full lips, and soft, melancholy eyes.”
On nije izgledao strašno.
As the invasion of Ukraine escalates into a wider horror, practically nobody in the EU is doing anything to prevent it. And at this exact moment, of course, as usual, out come the vicious, scapegoating slurs against those who speak up for peace: "cronies," "puppets," "stooges," "agents."
Opposing the horrible madness of war is not "anti-European." It's not "anti-Ukrainian." It's not "pro-Russian." It's common sense.
